2,000 acres of prairie, riverbank, and woods below the Lewisville Lake dam, home to a small bison herd you might spot from the trail with a little luck; the gentle Cottonwood Trail along the Elm Fork lets older kids walk down to the river to look for fish.

💡 Tips
Open only on weekends (Thursday through Sunday, check the website), and the gate closes early. Trails are dirt and grass, so use a carrier and wear long pants against bugs; spring has the most wildflowers, and skip it in summer.
