A free open-air railroad museum on a corner of Griffith Park: a dozen-plus real steam locomotives and vintage cars parked on the grounds, several you can climb aboard, and a miniature train (about $3) circling the perimeter every 15 minutes; the pilgrimage site for LA train lovers from 2 to 10.

💡 Tips
Go right at the 10am weekend opening; by midday the birthday parties get loud. Mini train tickets are to the right of the entrance; the LA Zoo is 5 minutes away for a full day. Summer afternoons are very sunny.
