    Best seasons: Spring

The 30 century-old Yoshino cherry trees on the University of Washington Quad bloom every late March, showering pink and white petals on the lawn between Gothic old buildings; kids roll in the petals while grown-ups take photos — a free hour-long spring outing.

💡 Tips
The bloom lasts only a week or two, and UW has an official blossom status page; weekends are very crowded, so before 9am is best. Continue on to the Burke Museum or lunch at U Village.
