The best free farm in Northern Virginia: Kidwell Farm is kept the way it looked in the 1930s, with cows, pigs, sheep, horses, and a yard full of chickens to watch, and pens full of lambs and piglets in spring; weekends bring tractor-pulled wagon rides ($) and a 1920s carousel, with a playground by the entrance.

💡 Tips
Animals are most active 9–11am; the wagon line gets long on weekend afternoons. The country store sells ice cream. Mostly gravel paths, fine for a stroller. Arrive early for Farm Fest in April and the Fall Festival in October.
