The giant tree, lit from early December to early January, and the skating rink beneath it are the center of a New York Christmas; one block along Fifth Avenue brings you to the Saks light show and the moving department-store windows, where kids press their faces to the glass for ages.

💡 Tips
On weekend afternoons and evenings the crowds make a stroller nearly impossible, so weekday mornings before 10 are the most comfortable; the rink is expensive with long lines, so just look. The Bryant Park rink nearby is free if you bring your own skates.
