A 230-acre arboretum run by UW; in spring the cherry blossoms and azaleas along Azalea Way make Seattle's prettiest stroller walk, and in fall the maples blaze red. At the north end, the Foster Island boardwalk reaches into the Lake Washington wetlands for ducks and passing paddlers.

💡 Tips
The arboretum is free, but the Seattle Japanese Garden inside charges separately (about $10; exquisite but not a place for running around). Cherry blossoms peak from late March to mid-April.
