Consistently ranked among the top zoos in the country: new elephant and rhino habitats, a giraffe feeding platform, native animals and an old-time town in Texas Wild!, plus a train and a carousel on the grounds — worth the hour's drive for a full day.

💡 Tips
Admission is about $20 for adults and $16 for kids, half price on Wednesdays, check the website. The grounds are big, so bring a stroller; in summer be there at the 9am opening. The Forest Park Miniature Railroad and the botanic garden are right next door.
