Farms with animals for kids around the South Bay
Few things beat a toddler meeting a goat. These farms let kids see pigs, sheep, cows, chickens and donkeys up close, and all of them are flat enough for a stroller.
Hidden Villa in Los Altos Hills and Ardenwood in Fremont are the most complete, with barns, trails and room to picnic. Emma Prusch Farm Park in San Jose and the Barron Park donkeys in Palo Alto are free and quick. Lemos Farm in Half Moon Bay is built for little kids, with pony rides and a train, and at Tilden's Little Farm in Berkeley you can feed the cows (bring lettuce or celery). Don't miss Deer Hollow Farm either — it's at the end of a flat walk in Rancho San Antonio, listed under hikes.
