This children's science museum in Acton is the western suburbs' secret weapon: two floors of hands-on indoors (a giant water table, air tubes, a light-and-shadow room, and the Discovery Woods toddler area just for ages 0–3), plus a two-story accessible treehouse and a nature play area outside, for three hours of play rain or shine.

💡 Tips
Buy tickets online ahead for weekends; around $18 per person, free under 1, and libraries such as Newton's have discount passes. The outdoor area is open year-round, so the treehouse works in winter too. There is a picnic area inside for your own lunch.
