The big science museum spanning the Charles River: the giant Tesla coil in the Theater of Electricity throws lightning bolts several meters long and the whole room screams; the Discovery Center is the hands-on zone for under 8, with a water table and live animals; and the T. rex model, Butterfly Garden (extra fee), and planetarium mean a 7-year-old runs out of day first.

💡 Tips
Admission is around $30 adults, and the discount passes at libraries such as Newton's must be reserved ahead. Arrive at the 9am weekend opening, do the Discovery Center first (fewer people), and catch the lightning show in the afternoon. There is a cafeteria, and you can bring your own lunch. Fully stroller-accessible.
