Woods along Salt Creek with a 13,000-year-old mammoth skeleton in the nature education center, creek and ducks just down the slope from the door, and a 1.3-mile loop along the water to the 1852 Graue Mill, where you can watch the big waterwheel turn.

💡 Tips
Most of the loop is flat gravel and stroller-friendly; the Graue Mill museum is open weekends April through November with admission (check the website), while looking at the waterwheel from outside is free. The handiest free half-day around Hinsdale.
