A giant glass conservatory built in 1908, free with a suggested donation; the Palm House and Fern Room feel like walking into a rainforest, and the dedicated Children's Garden has giant climbable seeds, a slide, and a pool — the most comfortable way to go outside in a Chicago winter.

💡 Tips
Closed Monday and Tuesday (check the website), and free timed-entry reservations are sometimes required online. It's below freezing outside and 25 degrees Celsius inside in winter, so shed the coats. The spring flower show and summer outdoor gardens are good too.
