A 2,500-acre wetland and prairie preserve: a boardwalk crosses the marsh to the bayou, a real pair of American bison roam the prairie, the old Martyn farm has chickens and a vegetable garden, and the nature center has alligators and snakes. The most complete nature lesson in southeast Houston.

💡 Tips
Admission is about $8 for adults, half price for kids (check the website); open Wednesday through Sunday. The boardwalk works with a stroller, and the prairie trail is gravel. Weekends bring free volunteer-led tours and a Saturday morning tram-style ride (check that day's schedule).
