Galveston's holiday light show is an annual tradition for Houston families: a mile-long trail of more than a million lights shaped into animals, penguins and Christmas scenes, next to an outdoor ice rink and the Arctic Ice Slide. The 2-year-old takes in the lights from the stroller while the 7-year-old lines up for the slide.

💡 Tips
Light show tickets are about $20, with skating and the slide extra (check the website). Runs mid-November to early January; weekends are crowded, so go in when it opens at 6. It's windy by the water at night, so bring one more layer than you would in the city.
