U-pick berries with kids around Seattle: blueberries, strawberries and raspberries
Mid-June through early September is berry season around Seattle: strawberries and raspberries in Carnation first, then from mid-July the two blueberry farms right inside Bellevue. Blueberry bushes are low and the rows are flat, so a 2-year-old can pick standing up, and eating as you go is the easiest summer activity there is.
Closest are Bellevue's two city-owned blueberry farms, Larsen Lake and Mercer Slough: pay by the pound, no admission, with a wetland trail and a library next door. For strawberries, drive out to the Snoqualmie Valley: Harvold Berry Farm is the classic u-pick, and Remlinger Farms pairs picking with rides, so one ticket fills a whole day.

💡 Good to know
- Opening dates depend on the weather and the fruit; check the farm's website or Facebook before you go, and bring your own containers and some cash.
- Go in the morning; the fields bake by noon. Hats and sunscreen for the kids, and shoes that can get dirty in the strawberry rows.
- Strollers work in the blueberry rows but not the strawberry fields; bring a carrier.
