Things to do with kids in Kirkland
Kirkland is the Eastside's lakeside town: ducks and boats at Marina Park downtown, then north to Juanita Bay, with a turtle-watching boardwalk on one side and a shallow lake beach on the other, and farther north Saint Edward State Park with what's claimed to be the area's largest wooden playground.
A perfect toddler day: count turtles on the Juanita Bay boardwalk in the morning, cross the road to Juanita Beach for sand at lunch, and head back downtown for storytime at the Kirkland Library. For forest, Saint Edward; for animals, Farrel-McWhirter Farm in Redmond is 15 minutes away.

- Volunteers lead free walks at Juanita Bay on Sunday afternoons; in summer the beach occasionally has algae advisories, so check the city's site.
