A 650-acre wooded park in western Fairfax. The stone-house Walney Visitor Center keeps live snakes, turtles, and bees plus a kids' discovery corner, the little pond outside has frogs and tadpoles, and farther in are gentle forest trails and an old mill. Just right for a morning.

💡 Tips
The visitor center opens on weekend afternoons (check the website for hours) and often runs family nature programs ($). Trails are mostly dirt and muddy after rain; with a stroller, do the stretch from Walney to the pond.
