Things to do with kids in Lexington
Lexington is where the Revolution started, and also the west suburbs' best doorway to nature with kids: the flat stone-dust Battle Road at Minute Man National Historical Park runs from the edge of town all the way to Concord, past farm fields, old houses and interpreters in 18th-century dress.
A perfect toddler day: the inclusive playground at Lexington Center in the morning, ice cream in the town center at lunch, then the children's room at the Cary Library (with an astonishing Chinese picture-book collection). For animals, Drumlin Farm in Lincoln is 10 minutes away; for climbable art, deCordova; in summer, swimming at Walden Pond, and in fall, birds and turtles from the dike at Great Meadows. The Patriots' Day reenactment in April is the town's biggest morning of the year.

💡 Good to know
- The Battle Road works for strollers and scooters. Parking around Concord is very hard on Patriots' Day and during October foliage; leave early or ride the Minuteman Bikeway over.
