A big patch of woods in Conroe packed with everything kids want: feed goats and rabbits, play mini golf, ride the little train, and explore several wooden playgrounds and sandboxes, almost all of it in the shade. The most old-fashioned, relaxed half day around The Woodlands.

Admission is about $10–15 per person (check the website); mini golf and the train may cost a little extra. Go on a weekend morning and bring lunch for a picnic under the trees. There's a pumpkin patch and hayrides in fall.
