The best playgrounds for kids around Dallas
The cities north of Dallas spend serious money on playgrounds: several huge all-abilities playgrounds with shade canopies and spray grounds alongside, all free. The ones here can hold kids for two hours or more, have restrooms, and work for both a 2-year-old and an 8-year-old.
The big three in the northern suburbs: Hope Park in Frisco, Liberty Playground at Windhaven Meadows in Plano, and Celebration Park in Allen (with a spray ground in summer). Bonnie Wenk in McKinney has a zip line, Cottonwood in Richardson and Andy Brown in Coppell sit beside duck ponds, and Haggard Park in Plano is next to the DART tracks for train watching. In the city, Klyde Warren Park sits on top of the freeway and Flag Pole Hill is at the north end of White Rock Lake; Fort Worth's Dream Park is under big trees with the miniature train stopping alongside.

💡 Good to know
- From June to September slides and surfaces can burn at midday; go in the morning or evening even at canopied playgrounds.
- Weekend afternoons are crowded; 9–11am is the sweet spot. Bring water, sunscreen and a change of clothes for the spray grounds.
