Things to do with kids in Plano
Plano may be the most family-friendly city in DFW: one downtown block holds an old park, a free trolley museum, an 1891 farmstead and a DART station, and ten minutes by car gets you a prairie observation tower, big lake parks and the largest all-abilities playground in the northern suburbs.
A toddler's perfect day: chickens and sheep at Heritage Farmstead in the morning, a walk to Haggard Park to feed the ducks and watch DART go by, then aboard the old car at the Interurban Railway Museum. On a nice day, climb the tower at Arbor Hills or loop the lakes at Bob Woodruff and Oak Point; big kids head for Liberty Playground at Windhaven Meadows. When it's hot or raining, Haggard Library or Crayola Experience at Willow Bend; for train fans, DART from Downtown Plano into the city. In December, Vitruvian Lights in Addison is 15 minutes away.
