A 750-plus-acre wetland preserve on the edge of Sugar Land: a boardwalk reaches out into White Lake, the observation tower looks across the whole lake at egrets and cormorants, and with luck there's an alligator sunning on the bank. The 2-year-old counts birds on the boardwalk while the 7-year-old is on gator patrol.

💡 Tips
The main path is gravel and boardwalk, fine for strollers; the dirt trail around the lake gets muddy after rain. Mosquitoes are heavy in summer, so bring bug spray and finish by 10am. Restrooms and a pavilion are near the entrance.
