The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Bayou Bend estate, where getting to the gardens means crossing a wobbly pedestrian suspension bridge over Buffalo Bayou, and kids will come just for the bridge. Fourteen acres of lawns, azalea groves, sculptures and old oaks make it the quietest, most genteel stroll in the Memorial area.

💡 Tips
Garden admission is low and kids are free (check the website; open Tuesday through Sunday). The house tour isn't suited to little ones, so skip it. Azaleas peak in March. Strollers can cross the bridge, but expect a wait when it's busy.
