A 300-plus-acre county park on Spring Creek, and all of it free: the nature center has live snakes, turtles and fish tanks, you can walk into the 1830s cabins at Redbud Hill Homestead and the Akokisa village, then follow paved paths through tall woods to the creek. North Houston's best park-plus-museum day.

💡 Tips
Main paths are paved and stroller-friendly; the nature center is open 8 to 5. Free crafts and nature classes are often held on weekend mornings (check the calendar). Plenty of shade in summer, but even more mosquitoes.
